Erasmus+ is a European Union (EU) initiative designed to encourage educational and cultural exchange across Europe. It promotes high-quality, inclusive education, training, and learning opportunities for individuals of all ages. The program provides opportunities for students, educators, youth workers, and organisations to engage in learning experiences abroad, fostering intercultural understanding and personal development. Named after the philosopher Erasmus of Rotterdam, the program aims to enhance skills, increase employability, and encourage lifelong learning, all while promoting active citizenship and democratic participation.
Erasmus+ supports educational and cultural exchanges, as well as projects that focus on non-formal and informal learning, which ultimately equip young people and participants of all ages with the qualifications and skills needed for meaningful participation in democratic society. It also fosters intercultural understanding and a successful transition into the labor market.
Building on the success of the program during the 2014-2020 period, Erasmus+ strengthens its efforts to provide greater opportunities for more participants and a wider range of organizations. The program now emphasizes qualitative impact, contributing to the development of more inclusive, cohesive, greener, and digitally fit societies.
The program provides funding for a variety of educational initiatives such as student exchanges, staff mobility, youth projects, and institutional partnerships, all of which help to create a more integrated, sustainable, and innovative educational environment across Europe and beyond.
